Due to the increased interest in our program, Social Skills Development Center is in the process of developing the following weekend workshops:

Friendship Camp

Attendees are presented with targeted skills through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the newly-learned skills through small group behavioral rehearsal exercises with direct coaching from our team.

Topics covered include:

  • Starting and entering conversations
  • Having reciprocal conversations
  • Choosing appropriate friends
  • finding a source of friends
  • Good sportsmanship
  • Planning and organizing get-togethers
  • Responding to and bringing up disagreements
  • Changing a bad reputation

Conversation Camp

Attendees are presented with targeted skills through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the newly-learned skills through small group behavioral rehearsal exercises.  During these behavioral rehearsals, attendees are divided into small breakout groups to practice with direct coaching from our team.

  • Starting and entering conversations
  • Maintaining reciprocal conversations
  • Trading information
  • Appropriate conversation topics
  • Exiting conversations
  • Appropriate use of humor
  • Electronic communication

Bully-Proofing Camp

Attendees are presented with targeted skills through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the newly-learned skills through small group behavioral rehearsal exercises with direct coaching from our team.

  • Handling teasing
  • Responding to embarrassing feedback
  • Minimizing cyber bullying
  • Managing rumors and gossip
  • Handling physical bullying
  • Responding to disagreements
  • Bringing up disagreements
  • Changing a reputation

Dating Camp

Attendees are presented with targeted skills through didactic instruction, role-play demonstrations, and have the opportunity to practice the newly-learned skills through small group behavioral rehearsal exercises with direct coaching from our team.

Topics covered include:

  • Letting someone know you like them
  • flirting
  • Choosing appropriate people to date
  • Online dating
  • Asking someone on a date
  • Accepting rejection
  • Turning someone down
  • Planning and going on dates
  • Dating Do’s and Don’ts
  • Handling pressure from partners

Important information regarding all workshops:

  • Open to all including adolescents, young adults, parents and professionals
  • All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • 9 am to 3 pm each day
  • All weekend workshops include light refreshments and lunch will be served each day
  • Cost is $500 per attendee
  • Anticipated start of workshops will be announced
