Lori Lawton LMFT

lori Lori is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered play therapist.  Lori earned a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University where she focused her studies in play therapy and attachment theories. She also attended University of California San Diego where she received her Certificate of Play Therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist.

During her career, Lori has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She worked a number of years with the school districts counseling before moving to private practice. Through her career, Lori has developed a philosophy of care that is holistic and creative. In her work with clients, she emphasizes the importance of family, friends, teachers, and the community.  She aims to bring individuals together to create solutions as a team.

Lori has experience working with individuals with autism, anxiety disorders, and trauma and brings warmth and creativity into her work. Whether it’s exploration of feelings, a few minutes with paints or sand, or even a walk, Lori is passionate about meeting the client’s needs and is committed to finding what works for each individual. Lori believes that within each of us lies the strength to reach our goals and psychotherapists are present to support and cheer us through the process of discovery.

In addition to her clinical work, Lori has taught at Hope International University. Lori has taught teleplay therapy to master’s students and licensed professionals.  She is a certified PEER's Instructor, trained in EMDR (Eye Motion Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, EMDR advanced Flash Technique and Brainspotting trauma therapy.  She is also a Certified ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) examiner.  ADOS is considered the gold standard for autism testing. 

Lori is a mother and grandmother! She loves spending time with her family.
